Tribute to Laci and Conner The verdict in a very highly publicized U.S. court case was just announced. The crime was an incredible tragedy for everyone involved and today I needed to do something inspirational. Duplicated original image and applied Paint Engine’s Mass Poster setting (www.FantasticMachines.com). Applied Mike Finn’s Insta-sketch Beta action (http://homepages.slingshot.co.nz/~mikefinn/action.html). When the action completed I copied the Mass Poster layer into this image. Deleted other layers leaving these three: * (Top) [Color Dodge] – PE Mass Poster * (Middle) [Darken] Mike Finn Insta-sketch (Pencil layer) * (Bottom) Mike Finn Insta-sketch (Watercolor) A Hide All layer mask was added to Pencil afterwhich I airbrushed with white to bring in some edge detail here and there. Added Hue/Saturation adjustment layer to the top of the layer stack for added saturation. Merged all visible layers into new layer. Duplicated the merged layer and applied Impressionist > Crayon > Short Choppy Strokes twice, followed by Virtual Painter’s Oil Painting. Added a Hide All layer mask to this layer too, and selectively applied the effect by airbrushing with white. ~Danny~ Last edited by DannyRaphael; 11-13-2004 at 02:31 AM.

Another using the technique of separating the blacks, and applying filters to each part separately. Impressionist watercolor & chalk on the lights, VP oil and Impressionist chalk on the darks. Then a solid color mask, painted to reveal part of the image. Final touches - adjust levels, a little history brush on the face, and apply texture. This was a very peaceful image, thanks. A nice way to spend a peaceful weekend after a hectic week. Patricia

Hi Danny, Here are my attempts, 1. This was created simply by duplicating the Layer and applying a Radial Blur Filter. I created a Mask in this Layer and painted in some sharpness on the cross and statue. Finally I added a gradient Layer for some color. 2. I selected and copied onto new Layers the cross and used the Bevel and Emboss Layer Style. Next I Selected the sky to a new Layer and used a Gradient Overlay I then Selected the statue and copied to a new Layer using the Inner Glow Layer Style. Finally I created a Curves Adjustment Layer and by using a Radial Gradient darkened the edges of the image to help the focus of the composition. I used Levels on the Mask to help control the effect. Hope you like them. Regards Con Looymans

Con, I've wondered how to attempt this picture several times as it is especially moving and haven't been able to get creative with it. You, however, nailed it on the head. Very, very poignant. My virtual hat goes off to you. Janet
