| | | I made this for my mom. Opinions? I used stock photos from sxc.hu to make this. I did this for Mothers' Day, 2 years ago. I don't remember what I did exactly, because I was experimenting then. But I forgot that I do have a disk with the collage (or blend?) saved in Paint Shop Pro format. The layers were not merged. :] So it helped to look at that. When I try to do another blend/collage though, I usually don't like how it turns out. But I'm happy with this one that I made for my mom.
What do you think? http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v4...rnLeah/md2.jpg

Mothers in general are quite forgiving and different objects mean different things to people. So I'm sure your work was appreciated. That said, I give an opinion as if it were to be used commercially.
I think the image is a bit cluttered and lacks composition, sometimes less is more if placed strategically. Using only one or just a few related items would have been better and more interesting.
The eye seems odd for the purpose intended.
Using fewer images as part of a light backdrop (15 to 25% blend) behind a slightly offset greeting would have been more effective.

| | Re: I made this for my mom. Opinions? Thanks for the advice. I agree, it is pretty cluttered together. I'm probably going to try another one (not Mothers Day, something different), but put fewer pictures and less saturation.
I put the eye in because I thought about mothers and their child/children. And the eye of a baby kind of reminds me of the pictures of me when I was cradled in my mom's arms. And I would look up at whoever is behind the camera. The baby's eye looks like they were looking up. So those were my thoughts when I put the eye in, but it would have better a choice to not include the eye, because it does look weird, ..I liked the closeup, but I see what you mean by it being odd and out of place. And the two kittens..not sure why I put those there, except for that I thought they were cute.
And Danny, my parents are at the Mariner's game right now. They didn't offer me a ticket though! But probably because i'm not as interested into baseball as they are. :P

Great day (by Seattle stds) to catch a game. You're not missing anything so far at Safeco: M's behind 2-1 at the moment. I can take it [about once/year] / but mostly leave it from a watch-the-game perspective. It goes too slow for me now that I've not played it in ~45 years. I'd rather tinker with Photoshop if I have that option. |
