Hair Masking using luminosity

I was just trying out Eismann's luminosity masking for hair, p. 267 in Masking and Compositing which requires making a curves adjustment to a copied color channel. In CS3 the curves adjustment doesn't open. Martin Evening also recommends this technique for hair. Does anyone use this with CS3 or have an idea of why I'm encountering this problem?
Thanks.

Re: Hair Masking using luminosity

Stupid me. I usually use the New Adjustment Layers, not the Image Adjustment Menu, so curves was, for some reason, invisible on my set-up. I have adjusted the menu. Karin Eismann's Luminoisty Curves Hair Masking works just fine.
