I looked for associated posts and did not fine one... I hope this question is not redundant.

I'm a photographer. I am shooting the Belmont Stakes and need to take about 15 photos and link them together. I should be shooting with the same lens (28mm) on film (800 asa) with all the cameras on the same level, shooting in the same direction, same light and thus exposure. The cameras are going to be in a long, parelel line and with the 28mm I have a slight overlap of the frames. I took a look at PTStitcher...

I have never attempted such a foto and was hoping that someone who has done such might be able to suggest what I can do (or not do) to make the stitching work best and/or encourage the highest quality output. The fotos will be run rather small (3 inch tall) but I then I need to create a larger image (2.5 feet tall and 30 feet long). Out put is not an issue- i just am not sure how to maintain the max quality of the digital files while "stitching". I thus want to minimize anything that reduces quality! I need it to look like one really long image.

Any suggestions?

Re: stitching

Are you a Photoshop CS3 user? If yes, then the Photomerge action under File>Automate menu does an excellent job. Run it on your high resolution images preferably before doing any cropping or editing. Stitch all of the images together then crop and make any color and contrast adjustments.
