Re: Question about Extraction

very good technique suggestions in your tutorial...

creating and editing a Mask after working the Extraction dialog is by far superior to the results one would get using just the Extraction Tool by itself

perhaps most important to remember is that most often a combination of good techniques produces the best results—and what is good technique depends on both the situation and the result

for example: although creating and painting on a Mask is far superior to relying on the Extract Filter's results alone, to get hair or fur edges painted and effectively Masked might just prove to be a bit more of a challenge than folks are ready for—but that is no reason to give up or accept the results of the Extract Filter alone...

I was recently quite impressed with the results one can achieve with the Background Eraser for hair and fine detail. Sometimes cleaning up edges and fiddling with the Extract Tool can take longer than they are worth... I have learned that practice with the Pen Tool pays dividends when it comes to making selections, and in turn extractions.

cheers~
