Lazerchain and lights for Spaceship required!

I recently took the attached photograph of a ventriloquist with his puppets and need to create a space age chain to hold the artist and also lights for the space ship. Attached is my first attempt using inner and outer glow on the layer effects can anyone else give me a hand or suggestion for improving it? Thanks

How about tying him up as shown in this thread using some of the "Fantasy Brushes" from Obsidian Dawn
