|Photo Compositing Collage, montage, masking, selections, combining, etc.|
| ||Thread Tools|
I've originally posted this thread at critiques section few days ago (not sure if the forum's rules tolerate re-posting threads somewhere else on this forum, so please accept my advance apologies for violating them), but I can see that discussions specifically regarding compositing go on here, and perhaps I could get further opinion on my work.
Here is the original post from the above mentioned link.
I am an amateur photographer/retoucher.
I would like a professional opinion on this image.
I am already aware that this image falls short on matte extraction (regarding the technique), but I would like to know what else fails (and not only technically but artistically as well).
I consider it my best post-production work so far, and I have spent a lot of time working on it.
I have used following software to process this image (this is probably irrelevant, but I will post it anyway):
Ubuntu 12.04 - operating system,
RawTherapee - raw image converter,
GIMP 2.8 - for retouching and compositing,
Blender 3D - for rendering background image and God Rays effect around the subject.
Thank you in advance.
Re: Critiques please
Of course it´s an artistic PostPro, but the GodRays somehow don´t match the wide light source in the back, that´s what caught me first.
The Rays look like the light source is a small, punctual source 30cm behind his back.
I like the d´n b on his arms and shoulders, but I find it a bit overdone below his left chest... looks a bit too undefined to me.
