TRYING 1960 VW Beetle composite

I was inspired by one of the members "mcdronkz" who posted his/her work in the past.

I am the newbie on this forum and tried to be professional high end retoucher.

I know I have to study a lot but I just want to share my first compositing works with retouching pros

Please give me feed backs

and thanks for mcdronkz for the inspiration!

cheers

well done! i would diminish the transparancy of the car so that the waves reflected on the car look more like a reflection. if you look closely it give me the impression that the car is transparent....that would be my only feedback. good job! keep it up!

I agree the reflection on the car is to strong or maybe it is the wrong way. Also it seems like you need to have some background showing through the window.

Not a bad first shot at it! I like your attention to detail with the reflection.

- The foreground and background have conflicting light. One is side lit, the other backlit. You'll want to fix that.

- Shadow - draw it in yourself and use the real one as a reference for shape and density. Be sure to paint the car color faintly onto the ground and the ground color faintly into the car - that's how real lighting works, it bounces around. So the car will be "filling" in the ground shadow a bit while the sand will be creating a negative fill on the car. When you get this taken care of - you'll be looking much more photo realistic.

- Reflection seems to be at the wrong angle, you probably want it looking more "flat". Be sure to use blend if to get it look more realistic, you want reflections where they should be, not all over.

Good job masking except for a spot on the hood where it meets the mountain.
The reflection - s/b cut way, way back. Personally, I wouldn't use one.
Darker part of shadow looks good, the lighter part of shadow needs some work. Maybe use multiply or a big darkening curve masked out, then paint back in.
Notice how deep the sky is in the original sand image? The sky you have comped in is bright, yet the sand looks dark. I would make the sky deeper, or lighten the sand. It all needs to flow better. The sky looks lit one way, the sand another, and the mountain range another.
The Mountain? Sorry, that just is not believable. It stops at the car. I could go on and on. Something that really stands out is that the face is soft and as you go back it gets sharper. Need some work on your cloning skills.
Hue is different from one side to the other of the mountains.
B+ for the comp, D+ for cloning, retouching, color and flow.
For a beginner? Great job! Work at developing an eye for the details.
