so tell me what I can do better

His chin actually looks like mine, He He Ha Ha! Usually I try to communicate ideas quickly and don't spend a whole lot of time on execution. After all, it is a low res picture and if the idea has value, you can spend the time perfecting the edges and giving him back his chin.
I find two important things to a good background replacement.
1) A good extraction (not like mine please!). I find the Pen Tool most exacting.
2) Whatever background you choose, make sure you match the color temperature with the subject. The sky was actually quite blue so I desaturated to make it a little bleaker.

If you need help in learning how to extract subjects, there are a lot of qualified people here to show you how to build channel masks, etc.
