Need help on catchlights!

Hello all,

Problem

I have retouched so many portraits by now, but still have a problem with eye-catchlights! Every time I feel I should create some new catchlights, they seem to look real artificial, somehow not quite right...

Does somebody know a real good tutorial or a hint on how to create good catchlights?

Patrick

Hi Patrick,

Sorry--I don't have any advice for you. However, I just wanted to say that I hope you get some responses because I have the same problem too.

Here's what I do.

Create a new layer and zoom in close with both eyes visible, use a small, soft, low opacity brush 6-8% and build up the catchlight so that there are no hard edges. You can then repeat on the second eye or CTRL J and move it over the second eye.

Merge down if your happy with it.
