Repaired Folds and Tears

Hi, I'm so glad I came across this forum. Great tips and helpful people. I'm sure to learn a lot from here.

Anyways, here's a photo my mom gave me to try to resurrect. I think it's come out pretty good. Any suggestions? I haven't adjusted the color yet from the initial scan.

Hi Evilincorp,

Nice job. Still a little to do on the girls dresses, where the tape was.

Try desaturating the image, it will be easier to deal with in greyscale (the colour can always be added back later).

Duplicate image, de-saturate copied layer.

New layer, set blend mode to Soft Light, fill with 50% grey. Now use a soft white brush, set opacity to 5%, and paint a little (light) back into stained dress areas.

To replace colour, create new layer, set blend mode to colour, sample colour from original, and fill layer with it. Adjust layer opacity for effect.

In MHO,the image could also benefit from a little more contrast.

Oops, just noticed its your first post. Welcome to RP, hope to see more work from you in the future.

Hi Evilincorp,

Welcome to RP!

You did a very good job in removing scratches and tape!

I agree with Gary that there are still a few things you could do to improve your picture .... contrast and, maybe, fade the still darker shadow (leftover of the tape) from the dresses .....

Had a little spare time this afternoon, so had a quick go with your original, hope you don't mind.

Thanks for the suggestions guys. I'll give them a try on the original.

The one you did looks a lot better especially in the dress areas.
