I have not had time to work on it much but CS2 will help a lot becasue of the lost detail in the dark streak the vanishing point tool is perfect for fixing the brick, I tried that area and very pleasing results. I think some cropping will help with this image as well.

I had an image I worked a few hours on removing dust etc, the pic was clean and a friend scanned it, but what I did in the end was do the scan myself, I gave the scanner screen a really good clean and I lost 90% of the dust problems. Gentle clean of the image itself also removed a few issues.

petra,

there are several things you can do to fix this image. your clone brush will help with the dust and scratches. just keep going there. cropping, like creeduk suggests would be good too. also, the salt and pepper filter in the noise tools would help. just be a bit careful there as you can blur an image pretty good with that, so use it sparingly. and after using it, try a sharpening.

for the black area on the right and the deep shadowing on the guy's face, a mix of tools might help here. you might want to mask some of the areas you dont want to affect and then use contrast/lighten or adjustment layers of contrast, curves and levels to try to lighten that area up a bit. for me, i'd just crop that really dark area out on the right.

and yes, i'm talking psp 7.xx here. what version are you using?

K.

Hi Petra,

Welcome to RP!

I had a go at your picture .... I work with Photoshop CS, so, I don't know if this is going to help you .... For this reason, all I did was balancing shadows/highlights, colour and decreasing, as much as possible, the dark streak along the man's left side ... I didn't even start with the 'reconstruction' of the hidden/missing parts, but with a lot of patience and time, as Kraellin suggested, it could be done ....

Hope this helps a little...
