Free Digital Velvia Photoshop Action Set

I posted a new Photoshop action set for adding a Digital Velvia effect to your images.

The TLR Digital is a free download. It makes a duplicate of the image, flattens the dupe, and then applies L*a*b curves to add "pop" to your digital photographs. The L*a*b dupe is then returned to RGB and the result is copies to your image. Your original image remains in RGB throughout.

There are five different levels. You can also add "pop" along just the magenta-green color axis or the yellow-blue axis.

The effects are applied at 75% opacity to leave users room to adjust the effects.

Uwe Steinmueller asked how the results of my TLR Digital Velvia compared with results from Curvemeister.

I just purchased a copy of Curvemeister. I'll be posting a review soon o my site.

I ran my Digital Velvia Level 2 action. It makes a 26 unit change to the ends of the a and b curves. I made the same change with Curvemeister.

The test image was Bruce Lindbloom's color test image. The results were exactly the same. The patches on the Macbeth portion of the image come out identical in their Lab values with my TLR Digital Velvia action set and Curvemeister.

I'm glad Uwe e-mailed and asked about Curvemeister. It prompted me to compare my action against another tool. It's nice when the comparisons come out identical.

I modified the actions in the TLR Digital Velvia action set today.
Instead of using a Color blend, they now use a Normal blend.

The new version is 1.0b.
