Do you MAKE A LIVING doing photo restoration? I was just wondering how many people on this board actually make a living from doing photo restoration. I know I don't, but would like to if its possible.

Nope, it will be a good while before I get my skills up to that level. Cinthia

I used to, for a while.. I charged $80/hr, with a minimum of 1/2 hr (PLUS final print if over 8x12 inches). All went well for about 2 1/2 years (this is back in 2000), but then everyone with a computer and PaintShopPro or Elements started to believe that they could do it (or do it themselves), regardless of their skill level. People doing it themselves will ignore errors that they'd complain about if they saw even a tenth of it in a commercial job (like replacing black with black (when the original black was dark grey...)). Jobs got less and less and eventually it just petered out. Now I drive a truck to stay fed and housed, and do photos to art for fun.
