make a selection of a channel

Hello,
How do you make a selection of, let's say, the blue channel? I'm trying to load only one color in order to apply some filters on it.

In photoshop to select a channel you open the channels palette and click on the channel you want to select.

I'm sorry, I guess my question was not clear enough...
What I want to do is, for example, to load exclusively the blue, apply some effect/filter to it without affecting the other colors of the picture (like apply a texture to it only or whatever...).

You can go to the blue channel, select all and copy/paste it to a new layer. You can then manipulate all you'd like and when you're done copy/paste it back to the blue channel of the layer of the original photograph (though I would duplicate the original first so you don't loose the original)

I tried to copy the blue channel in a new layer but didn't manage it. How do you do that??
I opened the channels window, clicked on the blue channel, select all/copy/paste, nothing happened.

Click on rgb before pasting.

Yeah, that works! I just had no clue I had to select RGB again! Anyway, how do you copy the channel back after you're done??

Well after working with blue channel that you placed in a separate layer, you select that layer and copy that layer to the clipboard. Next open the channels palette and select the blue channel by clicking on it. Then paste into the blue channel.
