| | | Help... Restore this 25 year old pic Hello everyone,
My name is Mandy and I am very new here and new to re-doing pictures. I got this picture from my father last night and he was wanting me to try to restore it to the more "natural" colors.... Instead of the orange glow it has on it. This picture is of me and my 3 sisters. The youngest (the blonde) is no longer with us anymore she was killed in a car wreck a few years ago and I so hope some one can restore this picture for my dad. Thank you all in advance.
Sincerly,

| | Just a quicky I whipped up in PS using auto levels, auto color and using a gradient overlay to balance the lighting |

| | 25 year old Well I used a levels adjustment layer to start out with an used the white eyedropper on the white shirt to start balancing the colors. On the right side of the picture I removed some yellow and subdued the highlights some. |

| | | Mandy,
I used Levels to start, but found I needed Selective Color to reduce the yellow and magenta in some areas, then paint it back in your sister's dress and two of their faces. Used Patch tool to eliminate discolored area on older girl's arm, and cloned upper left corner where torn.
Hope you are able to give you Dad a refreshed keepsake of all his pretty girls! |

| | | Adjusted the levels with the eyedropper tool to get into the ballpark. Then sharpened a bit. |

dupe original layer.
contrast/brighness adjustment layer
color balance adjustment layer
Fast Fix plugin adjustments

jpg artifact removal at 'normal' '50'.
backlighting
clone and push on edges where torn or missing.
curves adjustment layer
color balance (not an adjustment layer...it's different)

| | | Hi Amp30,
Thought I'd have a go with this as well.
Cropped image.
Levels Adj layer, and adjusted individual R,G,B channels to colour correct.
Curves Adj layer to tweak the blues a little.
Applied Neat Image to reduce noise a little.
New layer, cloned out minor ommisions in BG. |

| | | What an adorable picture. I tried Neat Image, levels adjustment, some cloning and sellective blurring for artifacts. Then upped the saturation. Hope you like it. MargaretM

| | | Amp30 And here is one more variant. BTW, this original you uploaded is quite small in size and highly pixelated. If you would like a print quality image just upload a larger file to www.pixentral.com and post the link here. I think they will accept an upload of at least 2MB. Regards, MM |
