soft focus filter (digital)

i used to use the nikon soft focus #1 filter. it was great; just the right amount of softening, with the halo effect aroung the edges. does anyone know of a free digital plug-in to do this? thanks, boyd.

Virtual photgrapher is the first thing that comes to mind, one of the greatest plugins to enhance photos IMHO

thanks, garazon!

i enjoy virtual photographer, and use it for some things. however, the soft effect doesn't have the qualities i'm looking for. oh, well, i'll just keep plugging (no pun intended) and someone will have what i want. thanks a lot for taking the time to write me with the good suggestion. boyd

You didn't mention what software and version you are using. In APS CS2, lens blur can achieve similar results. The effect of a camera soft filter is dependant on the aperture of the lens—the wider the greater the effect. Lens blur allows a shot at F16 with no filter to be blurred at F2. Working with mask would let you control the effect...skip

ps VirtalPhotographer is Windows only. PowerRetouch has a soft filter, also AutoFX. There are many others, those just come to mind.
