Photo Restoration - - OPR - Klassylady's Work

I've been working on this soldier for a day or so and the problem is:

In the retouch the face seems to age and when I work on the solution so do I!

Any words?

Hi Klassylady,

First of all, it's so nice of you to do this for OPR.

It's not that the person aged in the retouch. It doesn't look like a photo anymore. This is a difficult one but I believe salvageagle. And so take your time. You don't have to do it in one sitting. I'm sure they'll understand if you work on it a little longer.

I think you have done a wonderful job.. There is just not a lot of information to work with. I also retouch for OPR but I keep to the easy or moderate repairs.

I noticed the largest section needing retouching is the difficult catalog and I can see why. To me many of the pictures seem beyond repair with large areas completely missing. They tell you not to replace parts by copy and paste so I just don't know what they expect.

Bottom line is I think the owner of that photo would rather have what you have done than no repair at all. So don't beat yourself up, just do the best you can do... which is pretty good. Then let them decide if it is good enough.

well, i dont see the aging, but i do see a few things that might help. the bar on his cap is a first lieutenant's bar. it shld be a complete silver rectangular bar. the insignia is marine corps and you shld be able to find an example with a google. the uniform, i think, is what was called 'khaki' and that too shld be able to be googled for some examples.

the only real thing i see you've missed on is the eyes. you've got them looking slightly up now where in the orignal they are straight on.

other than that it looks fairly good so far.

Step by step I have and will go back until satisfied. OPR doesn't expect it to be done over night. Thank you both and I'll look a little further for the Marine emblem, on my screen it looked solid. As for the uniform, I found that now I'll work to meld it into the photo a bit more. Thank you for your time and replies.
