Re: Back Again, Need help with old photo

hi sharon,

welcome back

i'd start with fixing the lighting. the tools here are mostly adjustment layers. these are brightness/contrast, curves, levels, and hue/saturation. you might also try a shadows/midtones/highlights layer.

after that, i think it's going to be a LOT of clone/heal.

work on the easy things first. that's why i said handle the general lighting/lightness first. it doesnt have to be perfect to start. just get it a bit better so that it's easier to work on the image.

and here's a suggestion; folks here love to help. post your progress from time to time and we can probably suggest directions and other helps.

Thank you Craig,

Will the brightness/contrast or hue/saturation take out the yellow tinge to it?

use the hue/sat adjustment layer and move the desaturation all the way or nearly all the way down/left (i forget which way the gimp goes) to reduce any color cast or colors in the picture.

Looked interesting. Cloning, healing, spot healing and patch tool. Using the pen tool I made selections and did a cut and paste. I am new at this so I realize that from a professional standpoint there is a lot of room for improvement.
