RGB Channels

By BamaCutie on Thursday, July 12, 2001 - 08:46 am:

I've been reading alot of online forums about digital retouching and have found alot of folks who retouch in regards to RGB channels. I have a photo with some type of mold damage and checked out the RGB channels and found that the blue channel showed the damage more than the other two. How do I handle this? Do I work directly on the blue channel? I'm totally curious... Could someone out there shed some light? Thanks. ~Maya~

Is it a color or B/W photo? If B/W, pick the channel that looks the best and use it, discarding the other two. In color you can try working on a single channel, just make sure you don't rearrange anything in relation to the other two channels, or you'll have color spots.

Thanks, Doug, for your reply. The photo is color and I will play around with working in individual channels. So much to learn!

I've heard the blue channel is often the culprit in scanned color images.
