Thanks for finding that CJ. I had a go at it using the tutorial but ended up using Curves in the end anyway. I couldn't quite get the Brightness to match exactly and that was partly because the stain is not a uniform brightness - it fades towards the hair. I suspect all those moves could be done in Apply Image anyway and it would probably be less cumbersome than defining and pasting patterns.
