You might have to consider "nose replacement"

At what DPI did you scan this? It will take a little time but with a high resolution picture, cloning, healing tool and patience it can be fixed.

Re: need help with a face

since you mentioned the nose in particular, i concentrated on that. clone followed by a light airbrushing here and there.

and i believe the 'blotchy' look you're talking about is from cloning. set your opacity lighter and do smaller areas that overlap. come at one area from several directions to get a good blend of the surrounding areas.

Re: need help with a face

The spotted damage sort of looks like someone stepped on it with a muddy shoe. Is there any chance you can scrape off some of it before scanning?

I used a lot of cut & paste, cloning, noise reduction & a huge amount of patience.
I would work with the hair some more. I think after hard work this picture could look like brand new.

Re: need help with a face

I figured I would give this one a shot, seemed like some interesting work to be done.

Purely painted and cloned really, with some grain added. I tried to reconstruct the nose area more realistically, since a lot of information is lost in the original and I think it came out pretty well. Let me know what you think, I hope this is sort of what you were going for.
