Movement Blur/Lens Blur

As with everyone on this board
these pictures are very important to me
otherwise I wouldn't find a desperate need to fix them
ok they are priceless- to me anyway

a moment i will never be able to capture again... ruined by a crappy digicam
they wouldn't let me bring in my minolta without a presspass... couldn't adjust f-stop... shutter speed...

and now I find myself relying on my photoshop skills for something i could have easily prevented.

problem is in MY PHOTOSHOP CLASS (I am an advertising major) we more so concentrated on "creating/manipulating" more so than "touch up/fixing"... it is an advertising class afterall...

So I find myself playing with the Smart blur and I can't get it right...

does anyone have ANY MORE SUGGESTIONS... IDEAS... Or if anyone has the time play around with it maybe? see what you think--- i know it will NEVER be perfect... i know that just by looking at it... but I want it printable... (reason for the 125 dpi as opposed to 72)

thanks for ANY help...
as I said this moment in time is priceless....

Re: Movement Blur/Lens Blur

i started with a usm set to about 6/100/5.

duplicated that layer and set the new layer to luminosity blend mode and 50% opacity. took the move tool and moved this layer around a tiny bit to align things a bit better. it helps to zoom in on the faces first.

then did a copy merge and paste to new layer.

ran a 'high pass sharpen' on this new layer and set that to luminance blend mode. i then turned off everything but this layer and the original so that the current layer would blend with the original.

you might also try something like 'focus magic' or 'unshake'. both handle blurry images.

Re: Movement Blur/Lens Blur

I didn't spend too much time on it, but I think it looks at least bearable.

Re: Movement Blur/Lens Blur

who are amanda and brian and what is DD?

ok, i gave this one more shot. this time i ran it through unshake 1.5, which still didnt do a completely good job....but better. i brought it back to Paint Shop Pro and combined it with my last attempt plus the original. with a bit of blend modes and some airbrush and push, i was able to get it better yet.

Thumbs up Re: Movement Blur/Lens Blur

Amanda Palmer and Brian Viglione are the Dresden Dolls - Their music is a bit difficult to categorize, some call it "Brechtian punk cabaret". They are fantastic performers, Amanda is as passionate as they come. I suspect this photo was taken at the True Colors tour, where they are currently touring with Cyndi Lauper and a host of other bands.
