Re: Suggestions Please - New Member

I wanted to take a shot at restoring this, duplicated original layer, adjusted levels and contrast, pretty much, just used the cloned and healing tools, copied and pasted new pair of pants for boy on right, added a little noise to that layer and lightened the pants to closer match the original ones. Painted in the rest of the lady's legs and then I had to stop. If I get time this weekend, I'll try and finish it up, it's still a long way from finished.

By the way, welcome to RP Fran.

Re: Suggestions Please - New Member

gave this a shot.
duplicated background layer twice
desaturated both layers
used patch tool to repair the damage
burn tool on a very low setting between 2 4 depending on the area i needed to burn
flattened image and added back the brown color

Very nice work Susie & Uni. Thanks for jumping in.

Fran:

Looking at these examples is like watching Tiger Woods golf: What looks easy is a result of a considerable amount of practice and experience. So, don't get discouraged by your early attempts. This is not an easy one to fix.

If you're going to be doing a lot of this type of thing, consider investing in the best book on the planet on the subject, Photoshop Restoration and Retouching by Katrin Eismann. It's an excellent source of knowledge and techniques with many examples on which to practice.

Hi Fran1962

welcome on board

DannyRaphael is right get yourself the book he mentioned not only you will learn restoring retouching the expert way it will save you a lot of guess work and of course avoid getting the critique of crap this and fake that lol but there are helpful people that would actually explain to a newbie where they've made mistake.

wish you luck with your new adventure.
