Newbie New to the list :)

I am hoping that I can find the help here that I need to restore some very old (and some not very old) photos. One is of my grandfather who tragically died a year after this picture was taken. It is a black and white and had something dripped on it that needs to be fixed.

I currently have PSP8 and, honestly, I get quite confused by it sometimes. I have seen the marvelous things that others are able to do with the programme, but if I can draw a straight line...then it's a good day. I read the inch deep manual that came with programme, but it didn't really do the trick when it comes to manipulating photos...for me

I was part of a Paint Shop Pro community about 3 years ago on MSN and I could never get anyone to answer my questions , so I put the pictures away and scratched my head at how to fix them.

I have a large artistic streak in me...but that plays out on paper and canvases. I could draw the images I want to fix via the computer freehand just fine...but I also know that there must be 1000 features on Paint Shop Pro that I am ignorant about that would be very helpful.

Well, there is my rambling intro. I'll get the two pictures in question up loaded to the site as soon as I have figured out how to do that. I hope you won't mind the mind numbing number of questions that may be coming your way

Re: New to the list :)

hi tranquilsea,

i've already offered a welcome in one of your other threads, so, i'll just offer this here... one step at a time i've offered some cloning advice on one of your images. that's a good one to learn at any stage of becoming more familiar with Paint Shop Pro and since you're doing restorations, it's an essential one.

and your questions are always welcome here, as are your answers

Re: New to the list :)

This project has been in abeyance for months because I knew that there was a pretty steep learning curve ahead. I'm ready now to take the bull by the horns.

I am really excited about this site! I am the family archivist, so I have a ton of old photos to go through, restore and copy to take them from their fragile single existence into confident multiple copies.

Thank you for the warm welcome...and the advice.
