Question Old Photo With Missing Pieces

This is my first post here, so hello to everyone here and thanks for allowing me to hang out!

I have a photo of my grandfather in his WWI army uniform that has pieces missing. It had been torn apart in a few places and someone who thought it was a good idea used scotch tape to rejoin the pieces ( not me!). The pieces have fallen apart again because the tape dried up from age.

I don't know if this is possible, but I would like to scan all the pieces and then use software to rejoin them and then fill in the missing areas with cloning and retouching.

What software would be recommended for doing this? Thanks!

Re: Old Photo With Missing Pieces

Could you scan the disaster and post it in this thread? I've done a couple like that and if I knew the extent of the damage and what's missing I'd render my valued <cough> opinion

Re: Old Photo With Missing Pieces

Mr Gee. Putting pieces of a photo back together can vary from easy to difficult, depending on the nature of the damage. So far, I don't know of anything that can do it automatically for you. The best software to use in my opinion is photoshop. Of course, there is also your skill level. Best thing to do is to post it, and let the good people here take a look.

Re: Old Photo With Missing Pieces

Hi,
I have seen it done in photoshop 7.0. Can you send a scan of the pieces put in oredr but with space in between the pieces? You can send it to tawnidilly@qwest.net. Please scan in the highest resolution.
Thanks,
Tawni
