Photos to restore?

Hi All,

I want to get some practice with restoring photos but I don't have very many. I know there are the challenges etc but many of them are a little too advanced at this stage of my development.

So I was wondering if anyone knows of any good sites with old and damaged photo's that are large enough to practice on?

you can always practice on images posted in this forum as well. just dont use them anywhere, like a portfolio without permission from the originator/copyright holder. you can always post them back in the original threads, though.

there are many other resources you can use. the national archive site has some good ones and various historical societies sometimes post images for folks to work on. you could also try museum sites, royalty free image sites and check out our own library for links to sites. government sites can be particulaly rewarding since the images posted are not copyrighted due to the practice that such items belong 'to the public'. just make sure of that, though, before putting them up somewhere.

also, i've posted at least one challenge here in this forum of a restoration. that one was fairly easy as i recall.

there have also been contest restorations, so check the contest forum.

and, i've seen this done before also; offer your services for free here in the forums in exchange for folks letting you work on their photos.

so, there's lots of stuff available
