Wedding Image Restoration

My grandmother was married in 1947. This is the ONLY image of the wedding..

She had a friend that had been married a few weeks earlier in the preacher's house, and she liked the idea.. so my grandfather ask the preacher to have the ceremony in his study. He agreed... problem was, he thought they meant the study at the church.

So they all show up at his house and wait, the house keeper lets them in and they do some photos. They finally figure out what is going on and rush to the church.. the photographer is on a tight schedule but goes with them. He realizes he left the film at the house, and by the time he gets back the cleaning lady has opened the canister and exposed all the film, save this one image.

So, I had to try restoring it. It's pretty good, but I think it could be better.. any suggestions?

Here is the before and after.

Re: Wedding Image Restoration

Lot's of noise in that pic. Hard to sharpen the edges after without bringing back some of the noise.

She was in a suite like my momma was. I truly enjoyed playing with this picture.

Thank you for sharing.

Re: Wedding Image Restoration

After not working on this for a while I went back and softened the noise a bit.

Re: Wedding Image Restoration

Here's my effort. Tried to remove the noise while keeping the pic as original as possible.
