Help needed! Removing orange water drop.

Hi,

I have an old photo of some kids and over one of the girls faces there is an orange water drop. I was hoping for some advice on the best technique to remove the dis-coloring? I have had a look at the channels and this area is quite good (green), but I am unsure where to start on this project.

Many thanks,
James Simmons

Re: Help needed! Removing orange water drop.

I started by making a copy of the original. Then using the eyedropper I sampled the orange color. I made a new layer, filled it with the color. Inverted the color on the page. Changed the layer to color. then brought down the opacity. I used a masking layer to just select the orange color. Then used the healing brush to clean up anything I missed.

Re: Help needed! Removing orange water drop.

First, I worked with channels to roughly equalize the gray tones using level adjustments.
Next, I used targeted curves method to match colors on different parts of the nose, and the final touch I did using dodge & burn routine.

Re: Help needed! Removing orange water drop.

Hi There

I copied the nose and teeth area from the green channel onto a new layer. I then used color layers to recolor the area sampling as needed.

Re: Help needed! Removing orange water drop.

Sometimes you can make the change with a new layer and coloring over the color you don't want with the one that you do and then finish with the touch up. Something to think about and tryl
