Unhappy Need help to restore old photo

Hi all:
This is my first post to this forum.
I've attached a photo which I am trying to restore but I am not having any luck with this. As you can see from the attached photo it is in very bad shape. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Mostly I would like to know how to get rid of the cracks. Thanks!

Re: Need help to restore old photo

If you can scan at your highest resolution with all automation turned off then scan again with the photo turned 180 degrees you might see a marked decrease in the size of the cracks after you do as follows:
In Photo shop rotate one copy and drag it onto the other one
use layer mode difference to line up the pictures (when everything is black they are lined up)
copy the background layer and adjust both layers till the picture looks its best

To repair/restore the photo use this tutorial as a starting point

After you post your less than 100K version, you could link to a site that is hosting a larger version.(like imagevenue.com or pixentral.com or photobucket.com)

Re: Need help to restore old photo

once you've done olbaldy's technique, you're still going to have marks. clone and any of its related tools is the next step.

Re: Need help to restore old photo

You are off to a good start now the real work begins.. cleaning it up !

Blow it up, copy layers as needed, get rid of all the imperfections using the clone tool, healing brush, paint on soft light layer. Just take your time using small increments with light touches and low opacity and build up till it is right..
You are on your way to a fine restoration just take care of the details!

Re: Need help to restore old photo

There is also an action called "Decrack". Do a search. It helps a great deal, but this photo is a time taker. I do agree with being able to post a larger size, if you want to do this one justice

A larger size of my picture can be seen here:

Any suggestions?

Also, how and where do I get the DeCrack program?

Thanks
