I was trying to take some artistic pics of my daughter the other night and didn't adjust settings properly- but there is still some information there. Would be interesting how the folks here could "save" it.

photob, please put your requests and images in the nearest correct forum. i've moved your post here where it shld get better attention than where it was.
One in color. First I gotta tell ya Photob, That stinks! 3 stops away from an absolutly incredible child portrait. I feel your pain.
I'm not sure what all I did with these, huge swings in raw, I know that. There is some info in the dark areas but almost no color info. The only color info that is usable is in the girls face where the light falls.
Maybe you could post the origional somewhere in it's origonal size, maybe someone here can sqeeze more out of that than I got here.

Reason: oops
I will start by saying that restoring this type of photo is beyond my skill level. However, I did give it a try to see what data was hiding in the dark. The blue channel was in bad shape. I just fiddled with the picture until I came up with something that displayed some of the hidden data
I have to say, that was a very emotional picture for me. I'm away from my 2.5yr old firecracker-daughter now for 9 months. I know your intentions on the photo, but wow. Since it was so dark, the noise I felt added to the atmosphere. I didn't try to retrieve any of the dark spots, just accentuate your daughter and try to convey my feeling of the atmosphere.
I know it looks similar to the others, but there wasn't a lot I could do with it.
This is a very nice photo. When I looked at the restoration above, they did a good job. I just put auto levels and channel mixer set to black and white with orange filter . The noise is just a plus for the picture.

Reason: adding pic
Eventually, all things merge into one, and a river runs through it. The river was cut by the world's great flood and runs over rocks from the basement of time. On some of the rocks are timeless raindrops. Under the rocks are the words, and some of the words are theirs. I am haunted by waters. Norman Maclean – A River Runs Through It
I copied the layer several times using screen blending mode. I converted the image to black and white and then used neat image to remove some grain. I added some sepia back in using HSL adjustment Layer.
