Re: faded (stained?) photo suggestions

I'm not very good at this kind of work, but I took a crack at it

Re: faded (stained?) photo suggestions

Hey Rpsparks,
I took a run at Joyce. She almost seems to have been hand colored, but no, it's an Olan Mills photo. Anyway I did pretty much auto adjustments in raw. In photoshop I did curves then sampled the green in the hair and used that color inverted on another layer in color blend mode to take out the cast. Then I wasn't happy with that so I used selective color to drop the cyan out of the neutrals. Then I sampled some good hair and
on a color blend layer painted back in the bleached hair on her right.
Can't say Joyce has never looked better, but I think it's better than it was.

Re: faded (stained?) photo suggestions

This is my try. I did this just for practice. My first color adjustment was through a third party filter by Kodak and from there just fiddled. I was not sure what her correct hair color was. There was one place where I though it might be a blond color. If you have a photo with the correct colors it might be helpful to post it along with the damaged photo.

dc

I was looking at this picture again and while looking at the channels I brought out a blond color in the hair, so I gave it a second try.

Yup, I had the same problem dc, I couldn't tell if the hair was platinum blonde or auburn.
(so I went with pink)

Re: faded (stained?) photo suggestions

Great tries... everyone. I do have another photo as reference but I'm at work and the photo is at home. Her hair is quite blonde from the other photo.
