| | | FFT greyed out Hi,
Big fan of FFT and it happily does the right thing on my work computer. On my home laptop with CS3, FFT is greyed out under filters.
I copied and pasted both FFT and IFFT into (through the Adobe Path) Filters. Shut down, restart, open Photoshop...it can see it but it's greyed out.
So, kind people, any ideas....what am I doing wrong? |

| | | Re: FFT greyed out This can happen when the image is in a mode, format, or color space not compatible with the version of the filter you are using.

| | | Re: FFT greyed out Murray is correct... and if I recall correctly, the image you open must be an 8-bit RGB to use the RGB FFT filter.
Also recall that there are other FFT filters that could be in your folder. You should be copying the FFT_RGB.8bf and IFFT_RGB.8bf filters.
Also, byRo and Bart_Hickman are the pro's with FFT. You could send one of them a note. |

| | | Re: FFT greyed out sergio, i cant remember if fft requires a certain pixels per side limitation or not, but you might try that; lower your image size down to something below 800 on any one side and see if that works. also, check the tutorial on using the fft and make sure you're following the steps exactly. it's pretty fussy about that.
and, if all else fails, try the RGB FFT instead. i've had more luck with that one.
and, if that fails too, try "Image Analyzer". it has a built in fft function that's easier to use than the normal fft or rgb fft. |

Thanks very much for your reply much appreciated. I think I have the RGB FFT it was working ok before but then all of a sudden it started to grey out and still is. I think I better make sure that I have the RGB FFT and try again. I will download the Image Analyzer and try this one and see what happens, but first I shall have a last go with the FFT filter and read the tutorials as your suggestions.
many thanks
regards

If you are looking to download the FFT_RGB filters again, they can be hard to locate. Alexandre Chirokov is no longer part of the website at Drexel Univ. To download the FFT_RGB filter go to this site and scroll to the bottom of the page. It is the only server I can find that still has it. http://www.skeller.ch/ps/fft_action.php
We should probably consider archiving it on RetouchPro also. |

Thank you very much for your reply and for the link to the FFT RGB filters, I have downloaded the filters and will follow the tutorials there which I am most grateful for.
I shall let you know how I got on.
Thanks

I've managed to get the FFT RGB working, my stupid brain, after painting with the FFT brushes on the red channel, I didn't turn back all the channels before I run the IFFT.
It's all working now
many thanks for your help
regards
