Re: A tough one

Thanks ByRo. I really appreciate your response.

Easy? Nup! Sent me straight to the help file of Photoshop to understand the properties of surface blur, equalise and local contrast adjustment. Now, that effort has put me somewhere in the middle of the class ! but still with my hand up.

About the "smudge"/push(?). I often read about this and I'm guessing it's the smudge tool. I'm also guessing to do anything with this tool is at pretty low strength. Is that correct? I find if I use it on my image, even with small, low strength strokes, I can't do it as quickly as I can the clone tool on low opacity. The smudge tools seems to take a much longer time to render the result. So perhaps you could advise if I am doing something wrong with this tool?

I look forward to your response.
Liz

This is Palms' smudging thread - have a good read!
The first brush mentioned in the thread (Linda's) is my principal smudging brush.
Yes, if you are looking to smooth a surface you should be using it at around 15%, 30% maximum.

For hair, fur etc. use a "Hair" brush, but now at something like 70 - 80%. (you want to preserve the streaks, not blur them away).

From there on it's "artistic impression".

Re: A tough one

I have to say that I am totally shocked at how well these turned out. It is simply unbelievable. Ro's was breathtaking and Flora's looked like she had the original stashed somewhere in a secret location and pulled it out to trump Ro at the last second. You guys are absolutely amazing. I think I'll walk off down the road kicking rocks and talking to myself 'cause I don't even belong in the same neighborhood with you Pros.
