First one

Hello,

This is my first post, so hello everybody, this is great forum and a lot of You have great skills at photo retouching/restoration.

I've tried to restore photo of my wife's grandparents.. Both photos - original and restored are attached.

What do You think? Maybe You could do it better? I bet You do...

Welcome Shem !
So far, so good. I like what you have done with it.

However, for me, I think it is starting to take on a water color look. This usually results from a bit too much cloning or painting. The original appears to have good detail remaining in their facial areas. It's just the clothing that is so damaged. The damage seems to be in each channel. I would be interested in knowing if the image was scanned or photographed ? Would there be a way to eliminate much of the damage by photographing at a different angle ? We can always correct the distortion caused by such an angle later (very easy).

Here is my effort. I found the clothing too badly damaged for me, so I had to re-dress them in clothes of the era.

Hope its OK.
