Re: Suggestions pls ???

Ian, the sky is a bit yellow. This could be caused by the age + the acid in the ink. The photo is also slightly washed out in some areas, leaning on overexposed. My suggestion would be, if you're using photoshop, to mask areas and work on them individually.

Re: Suggestions pls ???/ColorSampler Tool

Using Photoshop CS3 I opened up the image and used the color sampler tool and placed one marker on the lady's shirt and another marker on her shoe which should be white or at least neutral in color. The samplers showed that that was not the case.

Next I used a Curves adjustment layer and placed the white eyedropper on the the lady''s sleeve and the black eyedropper on the car tire.

I dropped the opacity of the adjustment layer to about 80% because there was too much luminosity in the correction. So the image still is still a tad too yellow.

At any rate this is one way to identify a color cast and adjust it.

Re: Suggestions pls ???

Gave it a quick play. Various brightness and color adjustments (notably color balance and selective color) on the entire image and a tid bit color smudge in the backround trees got me there. Not too good, not too bad. Does probably still require a bit of work in some areas.

Re: Suggestions pls ???

This is a tough one. I used about everything Of could thik of to tweak the color and sharpen the image. There are a lot of jpeg artifacts in the file. This may be due to downsizing below te 100K limit but check the original by zooming in.

Re: Suggestions pls ???

cool picture

1. contrast/brightness adjustment layer

2. color balance adjustment layer

3. hue/sat adjustment layer (to add saturation only)

4. color the sky with airbrush (on a separate, blank layer)

5. add some color to trees and grass (on a separate layer)

6. a tiny bit of clone on some specks

oh, i missed a step in there. when i cropped the image out of the frame, i cloned in some missing parts in the bottom corners.

you might be able to sharpen this a bit, too. a small amount of usm shld do it.
