Advice on Noise Reduction pls.

Hey all,, me again

Can someone let me know where I can get a good tutorial, or what software is good for noise reduction.

See the attached image, I have done some basic scratch removal and a bit of clone work, but I was wondering the best way to remove the general noise within the image. Is it possible ? Is it too far gone ?

The attached links show the original and my attempt at general cleanup. I have ficed some of the fence, removed the coathanger etc, but its the noise I would like some tips on

If someone could take the time to explain to me how to do it, I would be really greatfull. My MSN address is ilma55@btinternet.com and I always have it running, so if it is easer, contact me that way.

Thanks in adavce all..

Ian.

Larger Image version can be seen

Original = here

Noise Filtered = here

Filtered and Fixed (Wires and Coat-hanger removed etc) = here

Hi Ian,

There are two that I know of, both are free.

Neat Image

www.neatimage.com

and Noiseware Community Edition.

www.imagenomic.com

The free version of Neat Image doesn't work on photos over 1024 pixels.

I hope that helps

regards

helen

Re: Advice on Noise Reduction pls.

Well I use Neat Image also for noise reduction but that didn't seem to work too well on your photo initially. The blue channel seems to be the most blurry.

The first thing I did to your photo was to improve contrast using a curves adjustment layer. I used Swampy's method to add some color to the sky (fixing a blown out sky) Eventually I used Neat Image plus other blurs on layer masks.

Re: Advice on Noise Reduction pls.

the three most common would probably be:

1. neat image

2. noiseware

3. noise ninja

however, dont overlook photoshop's noise remover or paint shop pro's 'digital camera noise removal'.

and, if you care to perhaps find some more tools, check this google response: http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&r...oise+reduction .
