Any hope with this pic?

New here. Pretty much have given up on this one. Just seems like there is nothing to work with in the photo.
Any suggestions would be much appreciated.

Little big, links are here:

Thanks again for replies.

Re: Any hope with this pic?

welcome to RetouchPRO .. Looks like you have a great start to a restoration!

It would be nice if you posted attachments here at RetouchPro, it is much better if you do not link to images on other servers, since those links can break and that makes the forum thread essentially useless for future readers. After you post your less than 100K version, linking to larger versions (as you did above) is very beneficial in helping those trying to help you.

Hope you enjoy your visits here and make many new friends.

Re: Any hope with this pic?

You may recover a little detail by rescanning at 90 and 180 degrees then combining the images.

For now, it looks like you need to step back from the picture for awhile.. take a pause.. forget the Original somewhat, and come back to your WIP and look at your present work, where you're at now, as a new challenge and just clean it up some..

If there are other pictures available for facial details it would sure help otherwise good luck with your artistic skills.. Thus far you have done an excellent job!

Re: Any hope with this pic?

Thank you much for the reply. I will attach files for now on. I only linked because it is my own domain and server. Sadly this is the only known picture of these kids in this stage of age in existence. I will try what you recommended tho<3

Re: Any hope with this pic?

Just using the red channel tried Imagenomic Noiseware first then Polaroid Dust and Scratch filter (Dark) then Polaroid (light) for a starting point

Instead of just suggesting a starting point I decided to give your picture a try.. mostly cloning with a very small brush and lo flow

To get a good result, you would have to take care of each crease separately
(a quick sample below).
