Well you have a channels palette. And you are viewing the photo in Red, Green, and Blue mode. By using the channels palette you can see the various channels individually. The red channel seems to be the best channel so then use a channels mixer adjustment layer and select monochrome and the red channel to make a black and white photo using the red channel.

Creating the jacket pattern looks a bit time consuming but it is totally doable. Great job Hawkeye, looks like you put in a lot of effort which pays off with the best result~
