mathlab or matlab and ( or vs ???) photoshop

Hi , I have always used the photoshop to restore images, but now I have heard about the Matlab or Mathlab, software as another tool to process images. Can anybody here give me some feedback aboth tit. Does it lok like photoshop?. What is this software intended for?.

Matlab is a high level programming language if I recall correctly so I don't believe that it works like Photoshop.

Correct. Matlab has been around a really long time supporting programmers in mathematical applications. However, some of the more genius types have started using it to support/enhance the rendering of High Dynamic Range (HDR) images.
