Unhappy FFT Filter Grief

Suddenly my FFT filter has stopped performing. See the attached image. I am in 8 bit, with flattened and duplicated file, which is approximately 6x4. So its not the size that's the issue. I click on the red channel, do the spot "thing" with a soft black blush. As I do so, I can see it turning green on the composite RGB channel. If I continue and do the IFFT all I get is the composite RGB covered in green spots.
I have tried deleting the filter from the Adobe file and re-loading it into the Filter's Plug-In Folder of Adobe CS2. No change.
The link at the tutorial on this forum seems to have gone and googling revealed no other source to download it. I'm using XP.

Would anyone have any ideas on what could be happening? I do a lot of work with this filter as I'm constantly being presented honeycomb photos for restoration. I miss it

Re: FFT Filter Grief

Don't know what's happening. But, If you are looking for a source for the RGB FFT filters, you can still get them from http://home.planet.nl/~ber03728/4N6s...ugin/getit.htm

Re: FFT Filter Grief

Nothing comes to mind... but will think about it.
The current best site for the RGB FFT filters is http://www.skeller.ch/ps/fft_action.php .

Things that don't seem related:
- hardware
- software
- graphic config
- cache

Things that could be related:
- image resolution
- an image problem/corruption
- image color space or something similar
- and of course, user error... sounds like you use it a lot though, so that's probably out.

Does it now happen to all images, or just this one ? The answer should help determine the problem.

Re: FFT Filter Grief

Thanks for your quick replies. Chillin your link was my first port of call. But this link takes you to the Drexel Uni Web Page where a search on FFT returns no results.

Tommo-O..it's happening on all images. Your link takes me to the same place as Chillin's. Perhaps I'm not looking deep enough into it.

Bob Jones. Thanks. I have dowloaded your FFT link. This seems to be a different kind of beast. I'm not sure where to place the folders. But...I'll give it a go.

Let you know the outcome. Sorry, in a bit of a rush. Get back soon.

Re: FFT Filter Grief

Hi Bob. Same problem I'm afraid. I will take the image home with me and use it to-nite on my laptop. See if I have the same problem there. If not, then I think it must be a Photoshop glitch.

It would seem not, Tommy O. I repeated the task at home and it was in this different environment that I noticed I was only clicking on the RGB eyeballs and not activating all the channels before doing the IFFT.

User error. Starting to lose the plot, I think!

Re: FFT Filter Grief

Glad you figured out what was happening. That's easy to do, don't feel bad about it.

I hadn't seen the Kamlex site, but the one I linked to is the Chirokov RGB FFT filter -- just modified to go into a different filter category in the filters menu. It works indentically to the original set. FYI, I just saw this updated (2008) version of the Chirokov plugin which works with up to 4800x4800 pixel images: http://www.3d4x.de/index.php?xml=Swi...+Alex+Chirokov

I place my 3rd party plug-ins in a separate directory and set the Photoshop Preferences to use that as an additional plugins folder.

Re: FFT Filter Grief

you can also use "Image Analyzer" which has a built-in FFT filter and is simpler to use than the FFT or the RGB FFT filters.
