Repairing this Old Photo

Hello everyone, I'm new at this forum. I was at canon forum and came across someone referring this site to me about restoration. I have an Old picture of my wife when she was a baby, this was one of a few pictures that were saved before their house was burned down in the Philippines. Cut it short I would like to know if this photo of hers would be able to be restored, and any good photo restoration place here in west covina (los angeles area), ca?? thanks

Re: Repairing this Old Photo

Hello,

This is just a color correct as its a small thumbnail. If you want to know more on how I did it and how you can recreate this, just let me know what editor your using and i'll get back to you.

Hope it helps,
-Keven

Hi FJRocker,

I don't have a recommendation for a restorer, but, yes, it can be restored.

Here's my try with your small file, a larger file will produce better results.

Re: Repairing this Old Photo

Reduced the damage, then ran it through levels, took out the overcast, and a few other things.

What a lovely child!

Re: Repairing this Old Photo

It's quite difficult to recover the tones ... the smooth/roughness of the child's face.

Re: Repairing this Old Photo

This was the best that I could do, I pushed the saturation a little but seems to look good.

Re: Repairing this Old Photo

Thanks! I am already enjoying my stay here.
I have been restoring, retouching and doing photo manipulation for years and am just now thinking about trying to do it as a side business. This website is wonderful. How great to find a place full of folks who love this like I do!
