Remove reflections, fix color

I found this picture of my nephew from about 15 years ago. It was a good idea, but poorly executed because of reflections and other problems. Fixing it is beyond my current Photoshop skill, so any detailed suggestions you can offer would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Barry

Re: Remove reflections, fix color

what i did was selected the seperate windows and filled them in black on a new layer. i then reduced the opacity of the layer so that it looked realistic.
the center window was the hardest as i had to select the area around the candle and feather it before deleting the black in that area.

some other things i did was slightly change the levels and remove the green from his red jumper.
i also did an overall sharpen using unsharp mask.

hope you like it

Really quick version:

Cropped
multiply layer three times with masks (radial gradient)
Darkened frame and candlestick using history brush set at multiply

OOPS! just noticed it was the 'Restoration Forum' maybe I shouldn't have cropped! Sorry bout that!

I like OlBaldy's retouch. It removes a lot of unwanted distractions. Perhaps the frame could have a color or texture change to match the shirt or candle. But that was an excellent crop.

i like OB's also.

i had a go at this also.

i used levels to black out the background a bit, followed by some cloning and then some starburst and airbrush. i followed all that up with a crop.
