RAAF airman in khaki has red lines on photo This photo was scanned from an original and sent to me as a digital image. It is a World War 2 Australian airman. What I need to fix is the red wavy lines on the image. Can they be fixed? Is there a name for them? Jennifer

Re: RAAF airman in khaki has red lines on photo Do,nt know what anyone thinks of this , i used adjustment layers of levels and saturation messing around in channels till it looked a bit cleaner then applied neat image plugin.

Re: RAAF airman in khaki has red lines on photo Don't know if there is a name for the red lines, but here's a try to enhance the picture. I first used Neat Image to get rid of the noise in the picture, then added a Color Adjustment and Hugh and Saturation layer to bring out some of the color. Hope this is what you were looking for.

Re: RAAF airman in khaki has red lines on photo When i looked again this morning was,nt happy with the green cast in parts and unfortunately i had changed his eye colour so had another mess round with it , i think this looks more true to the original.

Re: RAAF airman in khaki has red lines on photo Here's my try. Convert to lab and apply an inverted b channel to the lightness using a hard light blending mode. After that, blurred the a and b to remove remaining colour noise.

Thanks! I wish I could take some credit, but I first came across this technique in Dan Margulis' book on lab colour. I've since seen it online, and http://unsharp-mask.blogspot.com/200...photoshop.html seems to do a good job demonstrating it. It's a great one to add to the arsenal. - James |

Re: RAAF airman in khaki has red lines on photo Have you tried the "Dodge" tool? Or Lasso the red, then color adjustment? Also lightly paint over the area with white (set to low opacity) then use the "Eyedropper" to select a part of the face that has the color you want and simply paint out the defects. Hope this helps.

Re: RAAF airman in khaki has red lines on photo here's my two cents worth. spent 10min max on it. just used multiple but varying degrees of the hue sat adjustment layer for different parts of the image...
