first try on restauration Hi all. this is a work in progress for a restoration job I took on me. http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3355/...f96d3773_b.jpg this image was broken, folded and got a lot of scratches. still working on it and wondering how I can get rid of the bleach on the left topside of the image. more sizes are to be found here. http://www.flickr.com/photos/discoca...38049/sizes/m/ Last edited by discocandy; 04-19-2009 at 09:44 AM.

Re: first try on restauration Looking quite good so far ! There are numerous ways to get rid of that "bleached" area. You should get lots of suggestions. Here are a couple: - You could copy a selection to a new layer, use apply image with the best channel as the source to feed into the weakest channel. Then apply adjustment layers as needed. - You could use a channel mixer with the same goal, add more of the good channel and reduce the bad. Again, work on a selection copied to a new layer. That reduces file size, increases speed and makes mistakes easier to correct or delete.

Bleach Removal Well I first used a channel mixer adjustment layer and used the red channel to convert the photo to black and white Next I copied the layer and used an overlay blending mode to increase the contrast. I then copied that layer and used multiply blending mode. To that layer I added a layer mask that showed nothing "all black." Then I painted in the faded areas on the black mask with a white brush to reveal the multiply layer and darken that part of the picture
