| New Member Hello everyone, I am new on this website and am excited about reading all of the posts to get some tips on restoring photos. I don't own any of the Photoshop software but am using a program called Microsoft Works Suite Picture It Publishing 2001. I have had some good results using this program but I am wondering how this software compares to any of the Photoshop software programs. Any feedback would be appreciated. Thanks. Charval |

| Re: New Member Charval, Welcome to RetouchPro ! PictureIt has been around a long time. It shares many of the basic tools as PS or any other image editor. However, it lacks some of the control over each tool. While it does support layers, those are somewhat limited as well. It is certainly a good program to get started with and for understanding the basics of overall tonal manipulation, cloning, and layer basics. However, you may want to upgrade to something more powerful, like GIMP. GIMP is free and has many of the more advanced features that are talked about here and elsewhere, like control over channels, levels, opacity of layers, as well as more advanced tool sets. You can get GIMP here... GIMP Downloads |
