1st attempt at restoration of photo

many thanks to this board for all of the excellent help! This thread http://retouchpro.com/tutorials/?m=show&id=255 was of great help. I tried to follow pretty much step for step the info. I 1st fixed all of the tears in the photo. It is a copy of an old photo. I scanned a copy and used cs4. Like I said, this is my 1st real attempt. If any one has any advice or help, it would be greatly appreciated. This was done for a friend. The baby is her late husband.

Here is the original and the one I "fixed."

Here is a link to a bigger version of original and "fixed"

Re: 1st attempt at restoration of photo

Hello Kliph, you've done a very good restoration on the image. The only thing I might do is to filter some of the fine dust spots. Dust & Scratch filter works but blurs a bit too much. However a quick pass with a noise filter can get rid of much of it. One pass with Noiseware shown attached.
Regards, Murray

Overcooked is too harsh! It was a rough picture to begin with. Thanks for taking the time to look at it!

Re: 1st attempt at restoration of photo

First step should be FFT filter, second- levels, third cloning & healing & last bring back some texture.
