Very nice. Just a quick note... the hat looks like a layer got turned off before merging.

Re: Sharing my first practice resto ...

TommyO,
I'm just curious. How could you tell that a layer got turned off before
merging?
Thanks,
Mary

Re: Sharing my first practice resto ...

Hi Mary,

I believe Tommy is referring to how I have tried to make the ribbon on the hat a kind of grey see through type thing - and he has a point (As do the other suggestions).

The reason it looks like a layer didn't get picked up is because generally an image like this is converted to greyscale and then coloured. The grey Ribbon gives the impression that it either didn't get picked up or was not completed. Its a very good point and I have noted it for myself for future work.

Brad

Re: Sharing my first practice resto ...

It looks like that part of the hat isn't colored. That's my impression and what TommyO probably was refering to.

The flowers are a sticking point for me, daisy should be white?
Here is how I would have colored them.

I like it overall. Great Job!

The face looks like a color pencil-drawn, IMO.

Re: Sharing my first practice resto ...

Good observation, the restore took out too much of the face detail.
That is what you're saying, right? Looks like the hat lost detail and
texture also, especially the right side.

Sometimes adding a little noise back in helps with the smooth pasty look.
It's still a nice restore and great job!
