Unhappy I Need Some Help

Hi. I'm new to this site, this is actually my first post. But I was needing some help with how to restore this photo. (It was one of the challenge photos) I am wanting to start learning how to do photo restoration but this is my first try and have never been taught before. I would also like some info on how to go about coloring this...

Thanks,
Aqua.

Re: I Need Some Help

Hi Aqua

Looks like you have pretty much overdone it. A Restoration to me means, to clean it, remove scratches and keep as much of the Original Look and Coloring of the Image as possible.

I canīt give you an advise that will work for every image. But if you want i can send you a psd-file with were you can try to see my single steps.

Just let me know.

Regards Chris

My first post but I agree with crfbillmann! Maybe you should try just to remove the "yellow" spots and the scratches and live the rest as it is...

Leave*

I wanted to remove the texture from the background, but when you do that you lose a lot of detail.

Re: I Need Some Help

You could use Image Analyzer for the paper texture, frequency separation for the spots, curves adjustments for the dark half of the face, again FFT (Image Analyzer)... & then a fine tune work & colorization.
I have attached a sample after the first steps.
