Re: Can someone help with retouching this photo HI, and welcome here First you need to state what is the software you are using, and what is your knowledge in retouching/restoring... Folks here are always happy to help but they need some hints to start from. From a general point of view, I think the image is not too hard to work on since the face looks intact... You also need to tell if this is your only version of the image or if you got the original in your hands...(And in that case if you got a scanner as well) HTH, regards,

Re: Can someone help with retouching this photo First you have to get a proper scan from the photo, so even if it's black and white (general rule) SCAN IT IN COLOUR... Check the specs of your scanner to know its optical resolution, never use the interpolated resolution... scan at 600 or bigger dpi depending on the output size you want it to be printed... Save your scan on .TIFF or maybe .JPEG, but BMP is not an ideal solution for Photoshop Check out the tutorials here on scanning and restoring... http://www.retouchpro.com/forums/rp-...silvering.html the main menu is here: http://retouchpro.com/tutorials/? I also recommend Katryn Eismann book http://www.amazon.co.uk/Photoshop-Re...3987960&sr=1-1 Always a good place to start with... Make sure you learn first the basics of Photoshop.... And then have a look at the mighty "Clone" tool... But for sure not a quick'n'easy stuff neither... Last edited by 4personnen; 04-28-2011 at 05:01 AM.

Re: Can someone help with retouching this photo Hi Customedgevinyl/Junior Membe The picture is very nice and could be restored in very good condition. The only problem I see is the small size and this could be solved with the proper resolution. You'll beleive me or not but when I'm receiving such small pics for retouch as the ID, licence etc photos, 3x4 cm or less, sometimes I'm scanning them even with 2400dpi. Then, I'm enjoing my work and every pixel is available for edition. Working with a low res is a torture, I do not accept this kind of jobs. So, go on and have a nice scan
